AMC vs CMC: which service cover fits a tier-2 hospital?
A practical comparison of the two cover tiers we offer, with cost-vs-coverage tradeoffs.

We offer two service cover tiers: Standard Cover and Comprehensive Cover. The tier names are deliberately plain — this is what you actually get, in writing.
Standard Cover
Standard Cover is a parts-and-labour cover with scheduled preventive maintenance. You get:
- Quarterly preventive maintenance visits
- All spare parts (including tube and detector)
- All labour and travel
- 24-hour response SLA for downtime calls
- 8 AM to 11 PM phone support, every day
What’s not included: consumables (gowns, film, contrast media), site-side electrical or network problems, and damage from environmental events (flood, fire, lightning).
Comprehensive Cover
Comprehensive Cover includes everything in Standard, plus:
- Annual full-system performance audit with a written report
- One application-training refresher visit per year
- Cold-head and gradient-coil replacement cover (for MRI)
- All X-ray tube replacements (for CT) — typically 1 per contract term
- Priority queue on engineer dispatch (under 8-hour response)
The extra cost over Standard is roughly 30-40% of the Standard premium, depending on the system.
Which tier fits a tier-2 hospital?
For most tier-2 hospitals running a single 1.5T MRI and a 16-slice CT, Standard Cover is the right starting point. The annual cost is predictable, the 24-hour SLA is sufficient, and you can upgrade to Comprehensive at the next renewal.
For hospitals with a 3.0T MRI, a 64-slice or 128-slice CT, or any system that drives a significant share of revenue, Comprehensive Cover is the better default. The tube-replacement cover alone (typically 4-6× the cost of a single annual premium difference on a CT) makes the math obvious.
Switching
You can switch tiers at any contract renewal. There’s no penalty for moving from Comprehensive to Standard; moving from Standard to Comprehensive mid-term requires a fresh audit.
